I am the instructor for the Illustration Class:
College Method at the Art Lab at Snug Harbor, Staten Island, New York. If you
live in the New York Metropolitan area you may be interested. All the information will be listed in the Art
Lab brochure for the Summer Classes, as well as soon on the Art Lab website. The class is as follows:
ILLUSTRATION CLASS--College Method
Eight Monday evenings beginning July 7, 2008
$144 non-members/ $137 members
Led by an illustrator with 30 years experience, this class will guide you
through a number of take home “jobs” in the subject matter of your choice (science fiction/fantasy,
mystery, children’s, sports, etc.). Preliminary sketches and final art will be critiqued in class. Along the way, learn
about the business of illustrating: preparing a portfolio, finding and marketing to clients, writing contracts, and preparing
your art for publication. Be prepared to take notes. Students should have their own art materials at home, basic sketch tools
to bring to class, and high school level or higher art skills. Bring samples of your work or your portfolio to the first class.
